Opening Week (and Renee)

Well, Opening Week came and went. We went to the first to games at Petco this year (last thursday and friday) and subsequently freezed our nuts off. It was unbelievably cold down there. Almost as cold as the Padres offense (dun dun *crash*). The Padres offense is so uneven and frustrating that it makes this team very hard to watch. The good news is that it's only April. The other good news is Xavier Nady. He is absolutely DESTROYING the baseball. A very nice surprise. The key will be whether he can keep it up or not.

Renee Fleming's new jazz album, Haunted Heart, is to be released May 10th. The album art and track listings have been released: http://www.iclassics.com/productDetail?contentId=64053#

The track listing is quite diverse and should be VERY interesting to hear. Sure to not disappoint.

Opening Day thoughts

After an impressive comback by the Friars to lead 10-8 in the bottom of the ninth, in Colorado, the rarified air got to closer Trevor Hoffmann who gave up 4 ER in the 9th for the lost. Bummer. Serious bummer.

On the lighter side, an omen for the Dodgers this season??
Giants go ahead on E-5 in the 7th. Think they'll miss Beltre? ;)

It's finally here....

Well, the clock has changed, which means that Opening Day is finally here. Yes, it did my heart good to see ex-Padres David Wells and Blaine Neal get shelled last night in the season opener, but today is the 2005 PADRES season opener in Colorado at 1:05 PM. Is this the year? Lots of us think so. The rotation is solid, lineup could be mashing, bench and bullpen just plain scary. Is this the year? One way to find out. It starts today.
